Attention: Energy Plus New Home Program
6226 West Sahara Avenue MS #29
P.O. Box 98910
Las Vegas, Nevada 89151-0001
The Energy Plus New Homes program will award a limited number of financial incentives to builders who construct single family homes that exceed Nevada's energy efficiency standards for new construction.
Homebuilders of all annual production volumes are encouraged to apply. In addition to financial incentives, the homebuilders accepted into the program can take advantage of training opportunities, technical support and marketing resources that will help make the most of their decision to build more energy efficient homes.
Financial Incentives
Builders will be paid a financial incentive of $0.32 per estimated annual kilowatt-hour (kWh) savings per single-family home participating in the program. To determine the total incentive available for the homes you build, multiply the number of homes to be built by the estimated annual kWh savings and then by $0.32 . Projected total incentive participation by each builder should be estimated in the application.
Marketing and Outreach Benefits
In addition to providing homebuilder incentives, the program will also invest in a marketing program and consumer advertising campaign to further stimulate the supply of and demand for energy efficient homes providing additional marketing value to participating homebuilders who clearly identify and market themselves as a provider of EPNHP certified homes.
Training Benefits
Builders can attend training sessions highlighting improved energy performance of the homes, promoting Energy Plus high energy efficient homes, and communicating the associated benefits of buying an EPNHP qualified home. The following are examples of the types of training opportunities that will be provided:
- Sales staff training sessions on how to use EPNHP and energy efficiency as a strong selling point.
- Technical training sessions on building to EPNHP specifications and energy-efficient construction practices.
Technical Support
The Program implements a comprehensive eligibility review and verification process. This process provides another layer of assurance to builders that their homes meet EPNHP specifications and achieves an energy efficiency of at least 30% greater than that required by code (IECC 2006), and that Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Raters are following Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) standards or equivalent. All participating homebuilders will be assigned an Account Manager that will help them maximize their benefits from participation and leverage available incentives and opportunities for market differentiation.
